    It’s official: the travel company schauinsland-reisen has built the world's tallest sand castle, with a height of 16.679 metres, in the Landscape Park Duisburg Nord.

    Since 1 September 2017 the work of art made of sand has been an official GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS® world record. Jack Brockbank from London, records adjudicator at the GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS®, confirmed the record in measurements taken on 1 September 2017.

    19 international sand artists worked on the world record for 23 days and modelled the sand into a detailed sculpture depicting, for example, the Leaning Tower of Pisa, the Coliseum in Rome and the Sagrada Família in Barcelona.

    The work of art will be here for visitors to the Landscape Park to see until Sunday 24 September 2017 before it’s finally dismantled. The Landscape Park and the sand castle are open 24 hours a day, entrance and parking is free.
